Scope Creep & Task Expansion Policy
Last Updated: 14/03/2025

Trusted-People.com (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is a digital platform that facilitates connections between Clients (Employers) and Workers. This policy clarifies what Workers should do if they are asked to perform tasks outside the agreed-upon job description and outlines the procedures for handling task expansion requests.

1. What Is Scope Creep?

Scope creep occurs when an Employer asks a Worker to perform tasks that were not originally agreed upon in the Assignment. While some task adjustments may be reasonable, significant changes can lead to unfair expectations and disputes.

Examples of scope creep include:

  • A Cleaner being asked to carry out deep cleaning when only basic cleaning was agreed.
  • A Labourer being asked to operate machinery without prior agreement.
  • A Security Guard being requested to perform receptionist duties outside the security role.
  • Any request that increases the workload, responsibilities, or duration beyond what was originally confirmed.

2. Worker Responsibilities

If a Worker is asked to perform tasks outside the agreed scope, they must:

  1. Politely inform the Client that the request is outside the agreed job scope.
  2. Check the original job description to confirm the agreed terms.
  3. Contact Trusted-People.com Support if there is uncertainty or pressure to complete extra tasks.
  4. Decline additional work unless new terms (including payment adjustments) are agreed upon through the platform.

Workers are not obligated to complete tasks beyond the agreed scope and should not feel pressured to do so.

3. Employer Responsibilities

Employers must:

  • Clearly define job expectations before confirming an Assignment.
  • Avoid asking Workers to take on additional responsibilities without prior agreement.
  • If extra tasks are needed, update the Assignment via the Trusted-People.com platform with adjusted pay rates.
  • Respect a Worker’s right to decline tasks that were not included in the original agreement.

Employers who repeatedly request unreasonable extra tasks may be reported and could face platform restrictions.

4. Reporting Scope Creep

If a Worker experiences scope creep, they should:

  • Document the request (e.g., take screenshots or note details).
  • Report the issue to Trusted-People.com via [support contact].
  • Leave the Assignment if necessary, especially if the additional tasks involve safety concerns or unreasonable demands.

Trusted-People.com will review reported incidents and take appropriate action, which may include warnings to Employers or removal from the platform for repeat violations.

5. Policy Enforcement & Consequences

  • Workers will not be penalised for refusing additional tasks outside the original Assignment.
  • Employers who consistently push scope creep may face temporary or permanent suspension from Trusted-People.com.
  • Disputes related to extra work should be raised promptly to prevent misunderstandings.
